The New York State Assembly Member represents the 124th District serves Elmira, Chemung County, Tioga County, and part of Broome County. The Assembly Member is responsible for shaping state laws, advocating for district needs, and assisting residents with state-related issues.
Introduces, debates, and votes on state legislation.
Participates in shaping and approving the New York State Budget.
Reviews and oversees the work of state agencies.
Works within assigned committees to evaluate and amend proposed laws.
The 124th District’s Assembly Member serves on several committees that influence key policy areas:
Children and Families
Local Governments
Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
Aging
Housing
Advocates for local priorities in Albany, including funding, infrastructure, and public services.
Meets with residents, local leaders, and community organizations.
Elevates district concerns related to affordability, public safety, and economic development.
Assists residents with issues involving state agencies such as unemployment, licensing, and benefits.
Provides information on state programs, grants, and services.
Helps resolve concerns related to state regulations or processes.
Attends community events, town halls, and public meetings.
Shares updates on legislation and state initiatives.
Issues proclamations, recognitions, and legislative resolutions honoring local achievements.
Serves a two-year term with no term limits.
Participates in the annual legislative session from January through June.
Continues district work year-round.
The NYS 124th Assembly Member plays a vital role in lawmaking, budget decisions, and community advocacy. Through legislative work, committee service, and direct support to residents, the Assembly Member ensures that the needs and priorities of the 124th District are represented at the state level.
