The New Member committee will reach out to the prospective member to review the role of membership, discuss the CCDC organization and answer any questions you might have? An Election District is the smallest breakdown of a voting district. It consists of the legislative district and ward.</li></ul><ul><li>What is a Legislative District? The Chemung County Legislature is composed of 15 legislators, who each represent a district. That district is called the legislative&nbsp; district. <a href="https://chemungcountyny.gov/450/District-Maps" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary)">Find out your legislative district here</a>.</li></ul><ul><li>What is a District Leader? A District Leader is a member of the Executive Committee. Responsible for communicating and organizing voter registration, voters and other community activity in their respective regions.</li></ul><ul><li>Do I have to petition to be on the Committee? Every 2 (two) years, Committee members are asked to canvass in their voting districts and have registered Democratic voters sign a petition agreeing to have the committee member represent them on the Chemung County Democratic Committee. The Chairperson of the Committee has the option to waive certain members who may be too old, have disabilities, or other extenuating circumstances that prevent them from petitioning. All Committee Members are expected to petition and support Committee endorsed candidates.</li></ul><ul><li>How many meetings do I have to attend? Committee members are required to attend at least 4 (four) meetings per calendar year.</li></ul>

<h2>The local community discusses Project 2025</h2>With the release of the Project 2025 Mandate, it's been determined that P25 is one of the biggest threats to our American democracy this election. The over 900+ page document needed to be scrutinized and examined to see exactly what was that threat. So far, the Chemung County Democratic Committee (CCDC) has engaged in 2 local community discussions, where the public was invited to come and openly discuss the agenda. The items below are what have been uncovered so far. We hope the information provided below helps you to discover for yourself the steps others will take to curtail your freedom, and how they intend to destroy our democratic government.At the request of attendees to the community discussions, we've duplicated the PowerPoint presentations, where possible. Some presentations were given orally without visuals and were not recorded, so they could not be replicated here.

Resolution Calling for a Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza and the Protection of Innocent LifeWhereas, the Chemung County Democratic Committee acknowledges the long-standing conflict in the region between Israel and Palestine, and recognizes the urgent need for a just and lasting solution to achieve peace, justice, and security for both Palestinians and Israelis; andTherefore, be it resolved that the Chemung County Democratic Committee calls for:<ol><li> An immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza to halt the hostilities and end the cycle of violence, release of the hostages, ensuring the safety and security of civilians on both sides.</li><li> Support for diplomatic efforts, including multilateral negotiations involving all relevant stakeholders, to achieve a just and comprehensive peace agreement that addresses the root causes of the conflict, ensures the rights of both Palestinians and Israelis, and paves the way for lasting peace in the region.</li></ol>Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to elected representatives at the local, state, and federal levels, urging them to support these principles and take concrete actions to advance a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.Submitted by Halie Saunders, CCDC Recording Secretary on behalf of the Chemung County DemocraticCommittee.Updated: June 27, 2024
