Respected Family Court Judge and Acting Supreme Court Justice
For 10 years Pete has been a dedicated and committed Family Court Judge, addressing issues of neglect, abuse, custody and juvenile delinquency. In addition for 9 years, as an Acting Supreme Court Justice which has presided over the Integrated Domestic Violence Court, contested and uncontested divorces, and foreclosures. Pete is committed to serving the families and children of our community using respect, knowledge, compassion and experience to help those in personal and financial need
Pete has practiced in Supreme Court for over 29 years representing clients in multiple matters including land disputes, personal injury matters and issues of financial disputes. Pete has been asked by many Judges in the 6th Judicial District to represent children in contested custody matters. He has worked hard to protect children and their rights in Family Court and in the Supreme Court in matrimonial matters.
Child and Family Social Worker (MSW)
From 1979 to 1981, Pete was a Residential Facility Social Worker, protecting the interest of at-risk teens and their families at the Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch, Live Oak, Florida.
Dedicated Community Leader
Pete has dedicated a large amount of time being a community leader. He has served as a Board Member on Broome County SOS Shelter for Abused Women and Broome County Mental Health Community Services Board (one year as chair). Pete has been a legal adviser for Binghamton University’s Psychological Research & Training Clinic. He has been an Elections Commissioner for Broome County. Pete was an Adjunct Faculty Member at Broome Community College Paralegal Program. Currently he is a Board Member of Crime Victims Assistance Center and ACCORD.
Trusted Neighbor and Volunteer
Pete was born in the Southern Tier (grandson of Ukrainian and Czech immigrants) and graduated from Johnson City High School, Clarkson University (BA), Florida State University (MSW), and Stetson University College of Law (JD). He now lives in Vestal with his wife of 42 years, psychologist Susan Blue. Pete and his wife have two Sons, Jordan and Joshua. He has been a lifelong member, St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Pete has acted as a Volunteer Judge for Area High School Mock Trial Competition and American Legion Oratorical Contest. He has also been a youth coach (for boys & girls, 4-9).
